Wow. What a beautiful stadium they've built in Bejing. But on the eve of the Summer Olympics, I'm having a real problem balancing this historic sports happening and the "Celebration" of "Chinese Pride". Proud of what? Atrocities against human kind? Tibet? Tiananmen Square? Mao the Murderer? The Olympics often turn into a glorification of the host city or region, but how can any red blooded freedom lover not feel a bit put back by all of this. 40 years ago John Carlos and Tommy Smith made a statement about how they felt America treated there own people of color. Here's hoping that someone, anyone, makes a stand...like the Tank Man in the Square...

The most interesting thing I have observed about the Olympics in Beijing is in fact, that due to pressure or embarrasment the result of taking a million cars off of the road AND closing nearby factories for a week has resulted in the horrofic smog levels becoming less obvious. This is just after one week people! Can we even agree that it "appears" that less pollutants produced equals less pollutants in our air? If we agree then we must also agree that the same affect could occur on a larger/greater scale than just Beijing AND that if we create a different enviroment than how are we not responsible for it? (global warming is not just volcanoes and nature taking its course)
Wow I never thought I'd see a deep & logical post on here.
