Out Classed and Classless...

I have always been a Bill Belichick supporter. No more. He lost me with his mad dash from the field with 1 second left on the clock in Super Bowl 42. Ignoring the field officials who were telling him that there was one snap left, he charged across the field to give a quick congrats and bolt from the field. Leaving his team to hold there heads high, while he high tailed it. He showed no class and zero dignity. Who are you in defeat defines your character. It doesn't mean being a good loser. It's just a class thing....

Thom...If you watched the game closely, the scoreboard actually read 0:00 at one point, and then they put a second back on the clock. I have no problem with Belichick coming out on the field. He embraced Coughlin for an eternity as far as Belichick embraces go! I felt that he showed class in how he congratulated Coughlin. The problem I have is that they didn't just let the clock run out when the Patriots didn't convert that 4th down. Come on...when all of the media and fans and players ran on to the field, just end the game!

Belichick did everything he was supposed to do. He gave Coughlin alot at midfield. I truly think he thought it was over. There was indeed a lot of confusion at the end.

I hear you guys, but he was CLEARLY being informed by several people that there was time left on the clock...befroe he even got to the numbers. Plus, he knew his boys were on the field when he bolted for the locker room. He led them into battle and needed to be the last, not first, off the field. Plus in his interview afterword was very weak in giving credit to the Giants. He showed no class in the end...

I feel like it was another example of Belichick's controlling personality asserting itself. He wasn't able to control the outcome of the game, but leaving with time left on the clock allowed him to have a small measure of control over how he exited the field. It's that controlling personality that makes him a great coach, but not (at least in public) a great man.

Belichick is classless. He knew they had to run one more play. He could have just run straight to the lockeroom after that play. He makes it easy to not like him. I'm glad he didn't get the 19-0 record. He looks like a miserable human being.

The problem I have is this:
The guy won 18 games this year. He lost one. Sure, you lose under those circumstances, its hard. But you still a part of history whether you like it or not. You aren't entitled to that 19th win, just cuz. You gotta earn it... If the other team outplays you, so be it. If you did everything you could to prepare, you just weren't good enough that night. (They obviously weren't prepared)
So now your "that guy" the coach who had your team on the brink of perfection, and lost it in the last minute. What do you do? You run off the field before the refs end the game? That might go over if this is the regular season. But I am pretty sure we have all seen "that play" in which Herm takes it the distance... AGAINST THE GIANTS...
Ok, so even as unlikely as it is... What would he have done if it happened? They win... Whats his excuse in the post game? Oh... Uh... Well, I gave up and thought the game was over...
All this BS about them being a 60 minute football team. There was one team out there last night who played 60 minutes. The team that one.
It also goes to show you that its about more than just the 60 minutes you have on the field. Its about what you do to prepare. The Giants went the extra mile.
Bill, if a man beats you, make him beat you until they pull your ass off of him. I don't care if it's just a kneel down. I don't care if the clock read 0:00. If its not over, and they tell you its not over... Well shit, you still have a chance!
It makes me sick. No one ran off the field on him. What makes him so... perfect?

Class is relative. Everyone uses the word when its convenient for them.
