It's an SEC World...by Thom Abraham

So it's as we thought it was. The SEC finishes the Bowl season 7-2 and with a second straight National Championship. Ohio St. was only slightly better than last season surrendering 31 straight points after building an early 10-0 lead. Congrats to Les Miles who did a tremendous job getting his team ready and managing the game. In the coming years, we'll find out how he does with his own players (10 of the starting 11 on defense were Saban recruits), but for now, he is the King of the college football world. How ironic for Miles the Michigan Man, to get his championship by beating Ohio St...
In years past, we would have been left to decide who the best 2 loss team in the country was...USC, Georgia, Ohio St. or LSU...but for now, a convoluted system tells us the Boys from the Bayou are the best...

So LSU gets elected champion.

yaaaaaaaawwwwwwnnnnnnnnnn

Maybe some time in our life time a college football team will actually win the championship on the field rather than in a ballot box.

I think an 8 team playoff after the bowl games would be great. 3weekends. 4 games the first weekend. 2 games the next and finally the 2 best playing teams at the end could go head to head and play for the title!!
I would love to see USC and LSU go at it. Talk about a great match up!!! Thats what im talkin about!!!

So do you give Gerry DiNardo credit for Saban's Title?

Thom...I remember down here in SWFla when you were going goo goo and gah gah over the additions of Miami, Virginia Tech, and Boston College to the ACC. You were adament that the ACC (and your formerly beloved Seminoles!) were going to overtake the SEC in a matter of one or two years to become the most dominant conference in the land. How's that prediction working out for ya now?!?!?

Who knew that Miami and FSU would crap out! FSU is still my favorite team in the ACC, but the SEC is WAY out in front now! And how many of DiNardo's guys help Saban win that National Championship? Those wee the guys that got him beat against UAB in year 1 :)!

Oh I see. Matt Mauk comes to mind. I never understood the whole 'his own players' theory. In the BCS era only 3 coaches have won titles with 'their own' players. Fulmer, Bowden & Brown. Does that make Stoops & Carroll & Tressell subpar coaches? Someone had to coach them. Give Miles credit. This is Year 3 under Miles. The guys Saban brought in had just finished their freshamn years when Miles took over. If Saban wins at Bama next year are you going to give Mike Shula the credit? Facts are stubborn things.

Eric Alexander, Eric Edwards, Devery Henderson, Jack Hunt, Donnie Jones, Chad Lavalais & Stephen Peterman were all pretty big contributors to that tam if I'm not mistaken. You make it out like the guy is Lombardi or something. Is Saban even among the Top 5 coaches in the SEC right now?
